Delightful book!
This is a great book for the seasoned artist as well as the beginning collector. The photography is great and the text is very readable. It's a pleasure to carry with and read while traveling, as well as to study the photographs for ideas. I enjoyed reading about the artists, especially the ones I already knew; and learning about the ones I was'nt familar with. The photography was a pleasure, as well as the the text. I would recommend this book to anyone intested in teddy bears and artists!

The World's Most Lovable Bears
Stephen Cronk, former editor of Teddy Bear Review, has compiled a collection of more than 100 wonderful photographs of beautiful furry teddy bears created by many of today's leading teddy bear artists. The format reveals techniques and inspirations behind the photographed bear as well as some history on the featured contemporary artists. The teddy bear lover cannot resist the lovable images created to reveal the spirit of this collectible art form.

I loved the organization and format of this publication. I also enjoyed the 6-page historical perspective Steve offered spanning the history of the teddy bear from 1902 through the development of domestic and foreign shows, collector clubs, and charital organizations formed to distribute teddy bears to those in need of comfort.

You will be able to easily locate some of the best known teddy bear artists today. Their addresses are also featured in this book.

This book is a must for collectors and fellow teddy bear artists. You will love this book as much as I did.

Very useful reference of what items were valued at in 1993.
A very useful reference of what items were valued at in 1993. Offers values on American, British and German bears & toys. A lot of good information on the American brand of North American Bear Co. with the VIB and Vanderbear collections. Useful information on Steiff, Schuco Toy Co. and even Raggady Ann and Andy Dolls! I can't wait for a more current 5th edition but this 4th edition is a wonderful reference to at least see what items were valued at by 1993.

Adventure Around the Globe
Abiner Smoothie and his pal, Puppy (who is a bunny, actually) pack up and travel in search of the answer to a great mystery. The illustrations are fabulous, and the situations they find themselves in are a hoot ! This is the sequel to "Abiner Smoothie, The Last Elegant Bear." Quite entertaining for an adult while reading to a child.

Adventures of Buster Bear
Published in Hardcover by Price Stern Sloan Pub (June, 1950)
Author: T. W. Burgess

Great story, typical Burgess
Buster Bear is a book of many lessons that we could use today. Little Joe Otter played a part in showing the need of not having things happen your way always. Grandfather Frog was a rock of common sense throughout the story.

The Adventures of Dalbert Juan : Playing Hide & Seek
Published in Hardcover by Rhette Enterprises, Inc. (01 August, 2000)
Author: Laurie Bury
Average review score:

Excellent Story for Preschool Children
My four-year-old grandson and I read this book together and he absolutely loved it. This is a wholesome story that inspires the imagination of young children. I found that reading the Adventures of Dalbert Juan allowed my grandson to ask very real questions about his own life and to make comparisons with events that happen to him in preschool and in life with other children. We have gone on to read all the other books by Laurie Bury. I definately recommend it to families and feel that this set of books should be in every kindergarten and preschool.

The Adventures of Edward the Bear and Heidi the Birdie

Very highly recommended
Edward the Bear has a terrible itch. When he uses the rough tree bark of a nearby tree to scratch, he shakes the tree so hard that he knocks Heidi the Birdie's nest to the ground. While Heidi repaired the damage, Edward went into the woods for a gift of apology. He brings back a handful of juicy berries. Heidi offers to scratch his back every day if he will bring her more berries. Thus their friendship begins and carries through the day when Heidi saves Edward from bees, when Edward makes a fun surprise for Heidi, and the night that Edward cannot sleep.

THE ADVENTURES OF EDWARD THE BEAR AND HEIDI THE BIRDIE by Annie Applefield consists of four short tales certain to delight young readers. Appropriate for either a long rainy afternoon's read, or a chapter a night before bed, Edward and Heidi's adventures offer wonderful entertainment. Lessons about forgiveness and gift giving make Edward and Heidi's friendship special and fun and come to life with these simple but colorful illustrations. Readers will be clamoring for more tales about Edward the Bear and Heidi the Birdie. Very highly recommended.
